11/29 - NHS Induction Ceremony

Tonight we inducted new NHS members in the cafeteria. Hannah, Whitney and Rebecca did a great job coordinating the ceremony for their senior project. All of the volunteers who helped out with food prep and coming early to set up did a great job and helped us have an awesome ceremony! Congrats and welcome to all of the new inductees! See you guys at the meeting Thursday!

Enjoy some awesome photos (taken by Claire) of the event!

11/17/11 Meeting Recap

We had a pretty normal meeting this week (well, as normal as it can be without having an enrichment advisory).

Jared and Rachel shamed everyone who hasn't paid their dues yet (you know who you are -get them in!).

Volunteering:

There are a couple of developments with some Senior Projects:
  • Gina will be doing a Toys for Tots drive at school this winter. She is still confirming details, but if you are interesting in working with her talk to her.
  • Jared and Mabel will be singing at Lyngblomsten THIS SATURDAY. Go to Jared's house at 12:30 (absolutely before 1:00!) if you want to join. Talk to him or Mabel for his address.
No new opportunities from Ms. Lowther, although tutoring at the East Side Learning Center is still open if you're interested.

Discussion:

We first talked about welcoming the juniors into NHS. Try to think of some ideas on how we can make them feel welcome. Packets, "NHS buddies" and games were suggested.

We also got into a pretty big debate over what to do during Winterfest in the gym/auditorium. We're trying to think of something exciting that students will want to pay to get into. A talent show (like the Tri M variety show) and a battle of the classes/student-faculty basketball game hybrid were suggested, but we need more suggestions. BRING YOUR IDEAS TO THE NEXT MEETING!
